This privacy policy explains what happens to your data when you visit our website https://migranten-hilfe.de or send us a form. “Personal data” means all information that can be used to identify you personally – for example your name, your email address or your telephone number.
We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR (DSGVO), and with the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Above all, this means:
If you have questions, or would like to know what data we have stored about you, please write to us. The contact details are in the first section below.
The controller for the processing of your data on this website is:
Björn Strenge
Birkenstraße 12
26419 Schortens
Germany
Email: info@migranten-hilfe.de
Website: https://migranten-hilfe.de
The “controller” is the body that decides why and how your data is processed. Please send all questions and requests about data protection to this address.
This website consists of static HTML pages. It sets no cookies. A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser in order to recognise visitors. Nothing of that kind happens here.
Nor do we use:
That is why there is no cookie consent banner on this website. Such a banner would not be necessary and would only hold you up.
This website runs on our own server, which we rent from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in Germany. Hetzner processes the data only on our behalf and according to our instructions (processing on behalf of a controller under Art. 28 DSGVO).
Each time a page is called up, the web server automatically stores information in a log file. This is:
Purpose: We need this information so that the website works technically, so that we can detect faults and attacks, and so that we can keep the service secure.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. We have a legitimate interest in the secure and fault-free operation of our website.
Storage period: The log files are deleted automatically after a short time. Only if there is a specific suspicion of an attack or a fault do we keep individual entries for longer, until the incident has been resolved.
We do not combine this information with other data, and we do not create visitor profiles from it.
This website uses the fonts “Fraunces”, “IBM Plex Sans” and “IBM Plex Mono”. These fonts are stored on our own server and are loaded from there.
To do so, your browser establishes no connection to Google or to any other third-party provider. This also means that none of your IP addresses is transferred to third parties. Until 19 September 2026 the fonts were loaded from Google servers; that is no longer the case.
There are several forms on this website: the contact form, the booking of a consultation, the enquiries about the individual services, the membership registration, the newsletter sign-up and the registration for events.
When you send a form, your entries go directly to our own server and are stored there in a file. No third-party form, calendar or CRM service is integrated. Your details are therefore not passed on to an external provider.
Depending on the form, we ask for:
You can see which fields are mandatory in each form. Everything else is optional.
Purpose: We deal with your enquiry, check your preferred appointment, advise you and carry out the consultation contract.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO. The processing is necessary in order to perform a contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. For the newsletter sign-up, Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO applies (your consent), see section 6.
If you choose “WhatsApp” or “Zoom” as the channel, you are only telling us how you would like the meeting to take place. Making this choice alone does not send any data to WhatsApp or Zoom. As soon as the meeting takes place through one of these services, the privacy terms of that provider apply in addition.
You can sign up for a newsletter on our website. For this we need at least your email address.
Like every other enquiry, your sign-up is stored on our own server. We do not use an external mailing service provider. When you sign up, we also do not collect location data, and we do not analyse whether you open our emails or click on them.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (your consent).
Withdrawal of consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. An informal email to info@migranten-hilfe.de is enough. We will then delete your address from the mailing list. This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out up to the withdrawal.
With some forms you can send us documents, for example certificates, diplomas or official notices. The permitted file formats are PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC and DOCX, up to a total of 20 megabytes per enquiry.
These files are also stored on our own server. They are not passed on to any third-party cloud service.
Please note: Such documents may contain particularly sensitive information – for example about your health, your origin, your religion or your nationality. The GDPR (DSGVO) calls such data “special categories of personal data” (Art. 9 DSGVO). They enjoy special protection.
For that reason, please upload only the documents that are genuinely necessary for your request. If you send us such documents, we process them solely in order to deal with your request.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO for dealing with your enquiry. Where the documents contain special categories of personal data, we additionally rely on your explicit consent under Art. 9 Abs. 2 lit. a DSGVO, which you give by uploading these documents voluntarily. You can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future.
When you book a consultation appointment, you can choose card payment through our payment service provider SumUp. In that case we forward you to the SumUp payment page. You enter your payment details there.
Important: We do not see your card number or your bank details. They are entered only at SumUp and processed by SumUp. From SumUp we receive only the confirmation of whether your payment was successful, together with the amount, the time and a transaction number.
The provider is SumUp Limited, Block 8, Harcourt Centre, Charlotte Way, Dublin 2, Ireland. The privacy policy of SumUp applies in addition: https://www.sumup.com/de-de/datenschutz/.
Purpose: Processing your payment for the service you have booked.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (performance of the contract with you).
Payment via PayPal: You can also pay via PayPal. In that case we forward you to the PayPal page. There you log in to PayPal or enter your payment details and approve the payment.
We transmit to PayPal only the amount, the name of the booked service and a booking number. We do not see your PayPal password, your bank details or your card number. From PayPal we receive the confirmation of whether your payment was successful, together with the amount, the time and a transaction number. In our PayPal merchant account we can also see the name and email address you have stored with PayPal.
The provider is PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg. PayPal processes your data for the payment under its own responsibility, may check your identity and creditworthiness according to its own rules and may also transfer data to group companies outside the EU. The privacy policy of PayPal applies in addition: https://www.paypal.com/de/legalhub/privacy-full.
Purpose and legal basis are the same as for card payment: processing your payment, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
If you pay with a voucher, no payment takes place on this website. We then check your enquiry first and contact you with the payment details.
We delete your enquiries and the documents you have uploaded as soon as we no longer need them for the purpose for which they were collected.
The position is different where we are required by law to keep records. For documents that matter for tax or commercial law – such as invoices and the associated business records – retention periods of six and ten years respectively apply (§ 147 Abgabenordnung, the German Fiscal Code, and § 257 Handelsgesetzbuch, the German Commercial Code). During this time the data is blocked for any further use: we keep it only in order to meet the legal obligation. Once the period has expired, it is deleted.
The legal basis for this retention is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c DSGVO (compliance with a legal obligation).
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it on for advertising purposes. Your data is received only by:
Should the business be sold or merged with another company, your data may pass to the new owner within the limits set by law. We would inform you of this beforehand.
The website is delivered over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). You can recognise this by the padlock symbol in the address bar of your browser. This means that third parties cannot easily read what you send to us.
In addition, we protect the server and the stored enquiries against loss, alteration and unauthorised access with technical and organisational measures. However, no one can guarantee complete protection.
This privacy policy applies only to this website. If you follow a link to another website, the rules of the provider concerned apply there. Please read their privacy policy before you enter any data. We are not responsible for third-party content.
Under the GDPR (DSGVO) you have the following rights:
For all of this, an informal message to info@migranten-hilfe.deis enough. Exercising these rights is free of charge for you. We normally reply within one month.
If you believe that we are breaching data protection law when processing your data, you can complain to a supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO). This is possible in addition to any other legal remedy, and it costs you nothing.
The authority responsible for us is:
Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen (Data Protection Commissioner for Lower Saxony)
Prinzenstraße 5
30159 Hannover
Germany
You can also contact the supervisory authority where you live or where you work.
We may change this privacy policy, for example if the technology of the website or the legal situation changes. The version that applies is always the one shown on this page when you visit the website. The date at the top shows you how current the text is. In the case of significant changes, we will inform you as far as it is possible for us to do so.
